About

Hi! I'm Julie. Or Jules. I am a crazy busy mom of four living at the foot of the Rockies. Oh, and I happen to be turning 40 this year! Wow- when did that happen? My kids are 17, 14, 12, and 10. I find this stage of life to be harder than when they were tiny things needing everything from me... it's joyfully exhausting.

After flooding my Facebook feed with food and fitness stuff (and with the encouragement of my friend Sabrina), I decided I needed a dedicated space to share what I was learning with others... particularly moms. (Read my "For the Record: Why I Blog About Food and Fitness" post.)

I'll be focusing on:

  • Food-  I have also struggled with my weight for decades. You name the diet, I've tried it. And researched it to death. Food is fuel, and I'm running my own n=1 experiments to find what works best for me.
  • Fitness - I'm a former collegiate and masters rower.... love all things rowing, but not what it does to my budget or mental state. I've had phases of cross country running, step aerobics, zumba, and have finally landed back at Crossfit.
  • Faith - As I'm moving into this phase of my life, I'm questioning many of the things I just assumed I would believe and agree with for the rest of my life. I'll probably be working through some of these things in this space as well. Ultimately, getting better at the whole loving God, loving people thing.
  • Forty - I'm moving into my forties... and I think there are some exciting things ahead! I'll be sharing my journey.
